Bullhead City, Arizona – After being closed for the summer months of July and August, the Colorado River Museum will open for “business-as-usual” on Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m.
According to board president David McDaniel, the weeks during the museum’s closure did not go to waste. Museum volunteers spent endless hours sprucing up the facility, updating existing exhibits and adding new ones.
New historical exhibits include a display of the 1857 Expedition of Edward Fitzgerald Beale and his famed Camel Corps, and another featuring the West’s legendary Jedediah Smith.
The museum’s summer hiatus was also used to refurbish the popular Mohave Indian Tribe diorama. This project was made possible through a generous donation by the tribe, and included helpful advice and hands-on assistance from Mohave tribal members, working in tandem with museum volunteers.
The Colorado River Museum, 1/4 mile north of the Laughlin Bridge at Davis Camp, is operated by the Colorado River Historical Society and is open daily, Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (Arizona time.) The museum is closed Mondays, holidays and during the months of July and August.. Information: 928-754-3399.
