Find holiday gifts galore at annual Art Club sale

Holiday shopping will get a boost Nov. 30-Dec. 4 on the Bullhead City campus of Mohave Community College as the campus’ Art Club kicks off its 11th annual Holiday Fine Art, Craft and Gift Sale.

According to MCC Art Faculty Heidi Heckman, the sale will feature a wide selection of both creative and functional items, including jewelry, paintings, prints, pottery, drawings, glass work, knitting, dolls, gifts and cards.

“You won’t find anything like it anywhere else in town,” Heckman said.  “There will be a variety of handmade and one-of-a-kind works of art and gift items available at incredibly reasonable prices.”

The sale will take place in Room 201 on the Bullhead City campus at 3400 Highway 95. Hours are Monday thru Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds go toward an MCC art student and local high school art award fund.

Boom Box Parade and Winter Festival

Bullhead City (Ariz.) – November 5, 2010 – Coming Friday, Dec. 3rd is the annual Colorado River Women’s Council Boom Box Parade! This year’s theme is “Spirit of Giving.” Floats of all kinds, adorned with holiday lights, along with marching bands will travel Hancock Road from River Gardens Drive to Gary Keith Park beginning at 6 pm. Bring along your “boom box” and tune to KHITS 104.9 to hear your favorite holiday music! Anyone can enter a float. Deadline is Friday, Nov. 26th.Fee to enter is a non-perishable food item or a new toy for families in need. Boom Box rules, application form and information are available online at www.crwclub.org . Awards will be issued for Best Use of Lights, Best Use of Boom Box, Most Comical, Most Enthusiastic Best Overall and Best Use of Theme.

Other award categories include: Mayor’s Choice and Women’s Council Choice. The 2010 judges are: Jack Hakim, Bullhead City Mayor; Pat Baer, Women’s Council member, Mike McClurg, educator; Doug Blaydes, Judge Pro-Tem; Lisa McCabe, president Bullhead Regional Economic Development Authority; and Meg McDaniel, Laughlin Visitors Bureau. Boom Masters this year are Debbie and Darryl Dauenhauer, long time “giving spirits” in the Tri-State area. Debbie is president of the River Fund, Inc. and Executive Director of the Southern Nevada Transit Coalition- Silver Rider. Immediately following the Boom Box Parade, the City of Bullhead City will host the Winter Festival and City Christmas Tree lighting in Gary Keith Park. Winter Festival activities include FREE hot dogs and beverages, entertainment and the arrival of Santa Claus! Santa will also be available for photos. BRING YOUR CAMERA!

GRAND OPENING CEREMONY OF RIVER FUND, INC OFFICES ON NOVEMBER 18TH

LAUGHLIN, NV-Slated for November 18, 2010 at 3 p.m. at 55 Civic Way in Laughlin, NV is the Grand Opening Ceremony for the new River Fund, Inc. offices that recently opened in the Clark County Community Resource Center Building.

River Fund, Inc. donors, volunteers and supporting businesses are invited to attend. Special guests attending the grand opening ceremony will include Clark County Commissioner, Steve Sisolak and Laughlin Town Manager, Jackie Brady.  They each played a vitally important role by supporting River Fund, Inc’s request for use of the office space.

River Fund, Inc. began with the leadership and vision of Debbie Dauenhauer, Executive Director for Southern Nevada Transit Coalition/Silver Rider.  The initial financial support was through grant awards from BHHS Legacy Foundation, Mohave’s From the Heart and Mohave Electric Cooperative.

River Fund, Inc., as a new nonprofit organization, is focusing on direct services to the community and has to date assisted over 557 local families with emergency services or basic needs.  Additionally, the organization’s goal is to raise funds to support LOCAL area nonprofits.

“”They are a great community partner, one that provides an invaluable service that touches lives,” Commissioner Steve Sisolak said. “I’m glad we could help make a difference, especially at a time like this when people really need help.”

The opening ceremony will include Janet Barela, Executive Director of Laughlin Chamber of Commerce conducting a special ribbon cutting.   River Fund, Inc. Board Members and invited Community Leaders will be present to meet and greet attendees. All community members including Representatives of area nonprofits are cordially invited to attend. Total Body Boot Camps 1st Annual 5k Fun Run Turkey Trot

Total Body Boot Camp is a fitness program based off of all military style exercises and is held out doors @ our local Rotary Skate Park. The workouts are challenging and fun and are modified for all fitness levels.

Total Body Boot Camp is holding Bullhead City’s 1st Annual 5k Fun Run/Walk Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th. The race will start @ 7:30am.  All proceeds for this event will benefit the Bullhead City Fire Department’s 2010 Holiday Toy Program for all the families in need at Christmas in our community.

This 5k fun run/walk will start and finish @ Rotary Skate Park. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in Men’s, Women’s and Children’s divisions.

Adults are $20 Children $15 ages 9-12.

8 years old and under are FREE.
